The Casino complex, built between 1850 and 1900, as well as at the beginning of the 20th century, in the center of Băile Herculane, as part of the second phase of the expansion of the resort under the direction of the architect Carl Wilhelm Christian von Doderer, includes the Casino, the Casino Park and The bandstand.
The Casino (also known as the House of Cures) was built between 1862 and 1864 by the architect Wilhelm von Doderer, at the request of Emperor Franz Joseph I (1848-1916). The building, which belongs to the eclectic style, was equipped with a dance hall and a restaurant on the ground floor, and on the upper floor it housed the casino and the performance hall. The building has a colonnade and two monumental stone staircases. On the frontispiece of the casino is engraved the Roman inscription "SALUTI ET LAETITIAE" - Health and joy.
